6 essentials for the best wedding centerpiece

Because weddings change a person's life forever, the wedding centerpieces fit for the occasion should be just perfect as the event. And since the reception is the life of the party, it is utterly important that the wedding centerpiece would match the mood and compliment it with the party's theme.

Wedding centerpieces can be either minimal and simple or more elaborate and tell something of the story of the fortunate couple. Because they are visible to everyone attending the wedding, and are the focus of great attention, we have created a list of “musts” that every centerpiece should exhibit.

1. Choose the colors for your wedding centerpiece.

Where and how you use color really depends on the mood you are trying to create. The best way to get started is to figure out what emotions you want your celebration to evoke. Some brides will choose centerpiece colors based on the theme of their wedding, for example a beach wedding may display a centerpiece with ocean blues and turquoise tones. For a more traditional wedding a bride may use more neutral colors for her centerpiece. For a summer wedding, some soft pastel colors will make for a nice choice. Combining other colors in the centerpiece, including tones such as magenta, orange or red wine, can make an original and alluring combination for your special day.

Whatever your situation, you can usually incorporate your favorite color or a tint or shade of that color, into your centerpiece plans.

2. Pick the vases and holders to make the centerpiece foundation

Usually, vases are the foundation for the centerpiece. We can choose them in different sizes and shapes or we can choose just a holder for our candles from where the centerpiece will be built on. When choosing the vase or holder we should pay special attention to the shape and their angles. Rounded shapes suggest softer and lighter ambiances, while squared shapes suggest determined and strong features. As for all decoration, adding our creativity is key to create a unique piece that everyone will remember. Using different qualities of glasses, wine glasses and even globe fish bowl can change completely your table dècor in a fun yet elegant way. 3. Include flowers for added beauty for your centerpiece

Flowers are one of the most universal symbols of love and because of that, choosing them for our decoration is always an important decision we have to face. We can select our favorites (look for their symbolic meaning in this blogpost) and also pay attention to their shapes in order to match them with our theme colors, the concept we have for our wedding or the feeling we want to project. In flowers such as roses, we immediately get the idea of romance, delicacy and softness, whereas with some more exotic flowers, we get a warmer and more powerful feeling. When choosing the centerpieces, it is helpful to imagine a little version of the bouquets and details used for the general decoration, and recreate what we like the most out of it but in a tiny piece.

You can start your flower piece by combining a few (preferably an odd number, to create a sense of uniqueness) of the most prominent flower with some of the softer and more plain flowers that create sort of a background.

4. Beautiful centerpieces with Candles

This is the one item that adds so much to the tables. Candles create a unique atmosphere and ambiance in your reception hall. They add a touch of romance and nostalgia and they also provide a little more intimate lighting at each guest table during dinner and dancing afterward.

The combinations are endless when using candles as part of the centerpiece decor. You can just use pillar candles in different sizes or taper candles. Floating candles are also very popular. You can also combine them all and play with the different sizes, heights and colors and create a beautiful composition.

You should always choose unscented candles for your wedding tables and centerpieces. Scented candles will interfere with the food you are serving at your wedding reception. In addition, look for high quality candles that are both dripless and long burning.

5. Include nature for an earthy tone

We want to feel closer to nature so why not bring nature to our wedding centerpiece!! Natural elements can be incorporated as part of any centerpiece decor. These elements will

give our wedding a sense of being in touch with mother Earth. You can also combine these elements with the more traditional components of a centerpiece, such as flowers or candles.

Pieces such as trunks, stones, water or little branches or leaves, can give this sense of connection with nature and make our centerpiece look beautiful, earthy and aligned with our love for nature.

6. Your unique centerpiece with a personal touch!

If you've been to one wedding, you've seen it all. From the flowers and the candles to the dress and the music, the typical wedding can be predictable and generic. It's not the cake or the great food that will be remembered, but all the little details that will make your wedding as unique and memorable for your guests as it will be for you.

Adding your personal touch to a centerpiece can be fun and can create lasting memories. The main table centerpiece could be decorated with personal items that tells something about ourselves and our love. Have fun incorporating different items. Your guests will want to know all about!!
